Going no where fast

I have put hundreds of thousands of miles on several trucks.
Just got home from Milano & Geneva.
Leave for Japan soon.
I know where I have been, yet I do not know where I am going.

The Huntington

It has been a month since I was in San Marino at the Huntington.
I randomly selected my favorite photos, with out any sense of what to write, just the notion that I do not keep a journal, yet see so many things worth sharing.

As I write it dawns on me, that I have chosen a collection of light bulbs, an obvious symbol of my father, a collector and an electrician.
Audubon's Birds of America, the first Elephant folio I have seen in person. This book was spoke of often in my home, as we had lesser versions. I didn't even take a picture of the Gothenburg Bible only a few steps away.
The gardens are filled with Cycads, succulents, and plants that put off the smell of carrion, because they don't use the sweet smell of life to attract bees for pollination, but the stench of death to attract flies.

Mooneyes land speed team

Last year at SCTA Chico went 219+mph on his first pass, but snapped a valve on the second.
He is back this year hoping to go 220+ & getting into the 'two club' and claim the record last year he came so close to obtaining.
Of course the first day of rain I've seen in months is the day the racers arrive.
Bonneville is unpredictable, but I benefit from visits of bored racers killing time.

Tate & Lyles's Golden Syrup

"Out of the strong came forth the sweet" is a quote from Samson in Judges.
While reading Christopher Dawes 'Rat Scabies and the Holy Grail', he made reference to his favorite sweet and tied it into the coincidences that occurred during his quest.
He also mentions the red mini concept.

coming and going

I remember may pops wearing one of these tees.
I liked the two scenes as a kids, and just saw one recently, and still think it is outstanding the middle of the road... my own private cul-de-sac...
Yucca Lane, Thousands Oaks Calif.
The oak tree in middle of the tarmac, made for a perfect turn around pillion when I ran my 1/4 midget up and down the lane as a wee boy.

Don't tread on me

My guard marmot.

He likes the hood of the panel truck and will charge when provoked.

"may I see your driver's license and registration..."

"you'll need this as well..."

Sonny Barger, Jason Jesse & Snoop... ingredients for fun.
