1939 SOAP BOX NAT'L CHAMPION & MONACO YAUGHT CLUB CHILD'S BOAT
ARGENTINA
Next to Cali, more Vincents were sold in Argentina than Great Britain.
I spent 2 years there & it is a magical place.
My favorite automotive oil painter is a friend named Jose de la Maria. He capture motion like no one else.
This other Argentine, James Corbett, who John Reed turned me onto, uses as found found objects fro the 50's & 60's & creates wonderful sculptures...
For the money he's got me beat!

VINCENT BLACL LIGHTNING 1952
Each year I build 1 to 3 bikes, but they are generally very specific & early factory racing machines of little interest to the motorcycling community as a whole.
On occasion I indulge myself in creating a custom from something that should really have a proper restoration.
Then I ride it to death.
This is my take on a well know classic. It is VERY far from stock, but I am happy with the results.
If you don't like it, or have ideas on improvement, by all means, please send me photos of the Vincent Black Lightning you customized lately.

1952 Vincent Black Lightning by Richard Thompson
Oh, said Red Molly to James, "That's a fine motorbike
A girl could feel special on any such like"
Says James to Red Molly, "My hat's off to you
It's a Vincent Black Lightning, 1952
And I've seen you at the corners and cafes it seems
Red hair and black leather, my favorite color scheme"
And he pulled her on behind
And down to Fox Hill, they did ride
Oh, says James to Red Molly, "Here's a ring for your right hand
But I'll tell you in earnest I'm a dangerous man
For I've fought with the law since I was seventeen
I robbed many a man to get my Vincent machine
Now I'm twenty-one years, I might make twenty-two
And I don't mind dying, but for love of you
And if fate should break my stride
Then I'll give you my Vincent to ride
"Come down, come down, Red Molly," called Sergeant McRae
"For they've taken young James Adie for armed robbery
Shotgun blast hit his chest, left nothing inside
Oh, come down, Red Molly to his dying bedside"
When she came to the hospital, there wasn't much left
He was running out of road, he was running out of breath
But he smiled to see her cry
And said I'll give you my Vincent to ride
Says James, "In my opinion, there's nothing in this world
Beats a 52 Vincent and a red headed girl
Now Nortons and Indians and Greeves's won't do
Ahh, they don't have a soul like a Vincent '52"
Oh, he reached for her hand then slipped her the keys
He said, "I've got no further use for these
I see angels on Ariels, in leather and chrome
Swooping down from heaven to carry me home"
And he gave her one last kiss and died
And gave her his Vincent to ride

the odometer may read 00001...
okay, this guy pulled it off.
I've seen Larry do it a dozen times. (one too many)
I've seen Rhett do it in a barrel, on a vertical plain.
I've seen Jason slip, scream like a girl, pull out of it & send chills down my spine.
I've done it.
I've always hated the stupidity of it, yet I found this photo, stole it from some other blog & must admit, this champ is ruling.
